How to Develop Creative Potential in Your Team

workplace learning Jun 17, 2017

As our lives become seemingly hectic with demanding work schedules, there is a need to explore new ways of problem solving that will make us more productive as we execute our daily tasks.

Here are some ways to develop creative potential in your team members:

1. Sharpen expertise

Send your staff for training, workshops, courses so that they will gain new knowledge and skills to do their work better. With new knowledge, people can make better connections to previous experience and invoke new ways of doing things.

2. Host creative events

Invite people to speak or conduct seminars at your company. Some of these people could include industry experts, entrepreneurs, artists, etc who can share their experiences and from whom we can gather insights on their achievements and failures. Such sessions are networking opportunities as well where they may be able to connect your team with people who work in related industries.

3. Organise field trips

Arrange site visits to a customer, competitor or even similar industries. Take time to understand the processes, observe what are the best practices and gain insights into their operations and work. If your team is tackling new challenges, field trips may offer them inspiration while seeking out new ideas. For instance, a sales team may visit a restaurant known for their superb customer service. Even though these are different industries, hearing stories from how others do it well can spark ideas for improvement in your team.
