The 5 Qualities Bosses Want in Employees
Jun 28, 2017
In any job, most bosses do not judge you on what you do, but how you do it. Here are the 5 qualities that most bosses expect of their employees:
1. Proactive
People who take initiative at work make things happen. A person who is merely reactive to events or waits for instructions is a drain of energy and waste of resources. To be proactive, you will need foresight in anticipation of obstacles and think of solutions to resolve such issues.
2. Ambition
Ambitious employees are motivated to perform beyond the call of duty. They do not stay within the comfort zone but push themselves to stretch more each time they achieved their goals.
- Reliable
If you promise to get something done, do it. If you cannot fulfil that promise, then you must have the courage to admit it before accepting the challenge. Most bosses put trust in you that you can contribute somewhat to the company’s bottom line. Owning up to mistakes rather than finding excuses to cover up your faults also help to reinforce trust in your boss.
4. Intelligence
Bosses are not looking for geniuses in their workplaces, but they are expecting common sense. They expect you to solve the day to day problems without delegating the work upwards. You will need to familiarise yourself with the various means of obtaining resources for executing your job.
5. Team-player
A good team-player is a valuable asset to the company. Volunteer to help others with their workload or sharing your expertise to tough situations at work demonstrate your flexibility and can help you earn the respect of your boss and co-workers.
